“AT VANNI We Care” embodies VANNI's renewed vision as a Società Benefit
“AT VANNI We Care” embodies VANNI's renewed vision as a Società Benefit, (an Italian corporate law typology comparable to a benefit corporation).
VANNI's decision to become a Società Benefit in 2021, the first of its kind in the Italian eyewear sector to embrace this new commitment, has entailed:
VANNI glasses are designed to last
No, we don't use recycled ocean plastic in our frames. However, our acetates and metals, and their production are designed to minimize scraps and waste. Equipment and mould production are reduced to only those necessary, through efficient planning of the production chain, and packaging is made from recyclable materials. Sustainability is integrated into the eyewear design process from the outset.
How much CO2 does a VANNI eyeglass produce?
Together with the University of Milano-Bicocca, we worked on our "Life Cycle Assessment," a report tracking the eyeglass production process from cradle to grave, measuring its CO2 emissions —the primary cause of climate change. This extensive and wide-ranging project has allowed us to discover new aspects of our methods of production and will guide our continuous improvement.
The revolution of cases: more compact, less emissions
We revamped our eyeglass cases, now made from compressed cardboard. The reduced volume of the design has enabled a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions related to their transportation and distribution.
Art brings beauty
We continue to invest in cultural projects related to the world of art, because beauty brings enrichment. We supported Artissima 2023 with the VANNI #artistiroom award and created the fourth Capsule collection of artist designed eyeglasses; we also promoted, in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Turin, a project and prize for young artists: ‘The Eyes and the Vision.'
Back to University
We cherish our connection with newer generations, and are always learning from them. We collaborated on various projects with students from the Polytechnic University of Turin and the Universities of Turin and Milan, as well as optical institutes in our region. Follow our newest projects on our blog.
